My career in mental health counseling was birthed from my personal experiences, both in childhood and early adulthood. Counseling and other forms of support during those periods of my life, produced goals reached and maturity achieved that would have otherwise been lost. I strongly believe that every individual, across the lifespan, needs and deserves at least one other person to walk with them, fight with them, cry with them and rejoice with them. Without this connection, we cannot thrive. Therefore, my deepest desire is to be a source of support for those in need of healing.
I counsel children, adolescents, individuals and families with a variety of presenting problems, such as anxiety, depression, emotional regulation, family issues, and grief and loss. In practice, I use a variety of theoretical approaches, but primarily utilize trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy (TF-CBT) and attachment theory.
Prior to entering the field of mental health counseling, I worked as an elementary school counselor. As a school counselor, I coordinated the implementation of academic and behavioral interventions, 504 accommodation plans, and Individual Education Plans for students with disabilities, amongst other roles.
I hold an Education Specialist degree and a master’s degree in School Counseling and Guidance, both earned from the University of Florida. I am presently a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) with the state of Florida.
I am a born and raised Floridian, currently residing in High Springs, FL with my husband and our son. In my free time, I enjoy traveling, hiking, kayaking, and reading. My favorite book genres are spirituality, psychology and historical fiction.
