A therapeutic approach for children that incorporates elements of play. During this stage of development, children often do not have the verbal language to express repressed thoughts and emotions that they can portray through play. Times when children may need play therapy include following trauma, grief, divorce, or other life change. Children with behaviors, such as withdrawing, nervous habits and aggression may also benefit. Parents will be involved throughout the process, typically at the beginning or end of each session.
